Name: Nia Teppelin Age: 21 (part II) Gender: Female Species: Spiral (Human)/Virtual Life-form (an "Irregular" - an Anti-Spiral Messenger tainted by Spiral power) Occupation: Former Dai-Gurren Dan Cook/Former Princess of Teppelin, Currently engaged to Commander Simon of Kamina City Gunmen: Lagann, Gurren-Lagann, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann Point Taken From: Episode 17 (beginning of timeskip)
Personality
Pure, innocent, and extremely naive, Nia Teppelin had no contact with the outside world. As a matter of fact, the only human she had ever known before Simon discovered her in her makeshift tomb was her father and creator, Lord Genome. Because of her sheltered upbringing she is very curious and a little socially awkward. Nia is aware that she does not know everything about her friends and tries very hard to learn more about them. She questions everything. She actually tries to understand what everyone else considers an absolute, asking questions that may seem bizarre in the process. In her never-ending journey to understand mankind, she develops a strong empathy towards Simon. When she saw him carving the Kamina statues a week after Kamina's death, she realized just how much he meant to Simon. Seeing how he could feel so much for a person, Nia thought that she could believe in him. From Nia's observations, her friends are trustworthy -- she gets a warm feeling from them, perhaps owing to their each and every own individual fighting spirit that she finds admirable. For them to feel so passionately about something (e.g., protecting their villages against the Beastmen) is something that Nia respects. Despite the Dai-Gurren's misgivings of her at first, she believed in them from the very start thanks to this passion.
Background
Nia Teppelin is a mysterious girl found sleeping in a capsule in the middle of a large dump site by Simon. It is discovered rather quickly that she is a princess, daughter of the sovereign of the Beastmen, Lord Genome. Due to this fact, the Dai-Gurren has many apprehensions about the sheltered little princess but quickly warm up to her sunny personality, considerably so after learning of the fate her father had in store for her. Growing up sheltered by her father, Nia is unaware of the pain and suffering of the outside world. Such was the case for the first fourteen years of her life, up until the point she become self-aware and started asking her father questions unbecoming of a mere doll. "Why was I born" was not something a toy of Lord Genome's should ask and as such, she was sealed inside of her capsule and dumped into a ravine where she was to share the same fate as past princesses. Enter Simon. After encounters with two of her father's Divine Generals, Adiane and Guame, Nia comes to a realization for Simon finding her outside of the palace. Since she was created to be a doll and dolls were not supposed to have their own will and self-consciousness, she was discarded like many other dolls before her. Nia joins the Dai-Gurren Dan as a cook with the hope of confronting her father. After the final battle with Lord Genome, in which she aides Simon, Nia decided that she would continue to live as the person she is, always looking towards tomorrow.
